Federal Pell Grant

Application Process

Federal Pell Grants may be offered to eligible degree-seeking undergraduate students who display exceptional financial need based on data provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have not earned a bachelor's, graduate, or professional degree.

Eligibility

Students may be considered for this grant if they meet all of the following criteria:

Eligibility is partially based on exceptional financial need based on data the student provides on their FAFSA. If that information changes due to making changes to the FAFSA, verification, or conflicting information, that could change eligibility for the Pell.

Additional Requirements

  • Students cannot receive the grant for more than 12 semesters of full-time enrollment or after completion of a bachelor's, graduate, or professional degree.
  • Financial aid for each aid year also cannot exceed a student's cost of attendance.
  • The Pell Grant amount initially offered is based on anticipated full-time enrollment. The actual amount that disburses is based on the number of degree-pursuant credit hours in which the student is enrolled on the last day of the add/drop period for full semester classes.
  • Students must continue to meet satisfactory academic progress standards for financial aid eligibility.
  • Pell Grant funds usually do not need to be repaid except for some limited circumstances.
