- Possible billable/direct costs: tuition, fees, on-campus housing and food, Barnes & Noble First Day Complete (bookstore course materials program), Mountaineer Athletics fee, student insurance, etc.
- Possible non-billable/indirect costs: off-campus housing and food costs, books, personal expenses, transportation, etc.
Applying for Financial Aid
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Calculates the Student Aid Index (SAI), which is used to determine financial aid eligibility.
- The FAFSA is required for all federal aid, most state aid and even some institutional and external aid.
- All contributors (anyone who must provide information on the FAFSA) must create an FSA ID ahead of time on the Federal Student Aid website.
2026-2027 FAFSA
- The FAFSA is available on the Federal Student Aid website and requires 2024 tax information.
- Students must submit the FAFSA each academic year for federal aid and some state aid consideration.
- The WVU priority deadline is March 1, but the sooner the better!
