There are some exceptions such as private lenders that allow loans to pay towards previous aid years or students using their fall refund after it has been received by direct deposit or the check has been cashed to make a payment via their WVU MyAccount for a previous semester.

For spring semesters that have qualifying charges billed in December, funds can still be pulled within that calendar year for payments due in January. Please note that for tax purposes, December charges will also be included on the student’s 1098-T for that calendar year. For example, charges billed in December 2025 can be paid with 529 funds in 2025, and those charges will be included in the 2025 1098-T.
