Once a student is offered financial aid, they can easily review, accept, or decline their aid through their WVU Portal - including offered scholarships, grants, or loans.
We encourage students to make a decision on their aid offer as quickly as possible to ensure everything is ready for the upcoming academic year. Accepting aid is not a commitment to attend WVU, and students can always choose to reduce or cancel previously accepted aid later. For common FAQs that students have after receiving their aid offer and links to other resources, visit our All About Aid Offers webpage .
If you are newly admitted to WVU, please be aware that the myWVU Portal (Admissions portal) is for admission purposes only. Once admitted, all essential WVU information — like financial aid, billing, personal information, and more — is accessible via the WVU Portal platform. You can also visit the Log in to the WVU Portal website for steps to setup your access.
New students should review the WVU Login for New Students section below for additional information.
If you accept a Federal Subsidized or Unsubsidized loan, you will need to complete TWO additional requirements: Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note (MPN). Visit our Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loan Requirements webpage for instructions.
Acceptance of the financial aid funds indicates you understand and agree to any terms your aid may carry. You can view information on the funds by clicking on the name of the fund when reviewing in your WVU Portal.

WVU Login accounts are for students only. Parents and guardians may not claim accounts, create passwords and security questions, or set up authentication. Students should not share their WVU Login information with anyone. However, students can provide parents and guardians with proxy access to their information. Students can find instructions on the WVU Parent and Guest Portal website.
Below is the best order in which to accept financial aid, depending on what you are eligible to receive.

If you want to make adjustments to a Federal Direct Subsidized, Unsubsidized, or Graduate PLUS Loan, you must complete a loan change request.
If a parent borrower wants to request an adjustment to a Federal Parent PLUS Loan they have applied and been approved for, they must do so by submitting a public inquiry online request for assistance to the WVU Hub. Please note that parent PLUS loans cannot exceed the student's cost of attendance for financial aid purposes. Also, these adjustments can only be made if the period for the credit check has not passed and in situations where the loan doesn't have an endorser.
If you accidentally accepted other types of financial aid for the current aid year - or want to decline or reduce previously accepted aid - students can submit an online request for assistance to the WVU Hub notifying us if you want to reduce or decline the aid.
Please note that if you are requesting a reduction in a federal loan, it is usually best to specify how much you want to disburse as payment on your student account. Since the federal government retains a percentage of the loan as a loan fee, the amount of the loan you borrow and the amount that disburses will be different.
