Students must be a WV resident, attend and graduate from a West Virginia high school, and must be admitted to WVU as a degree-seeking first-time freshman by January 20, 2026. Home-schooled students who are WV residents must be home-schooled for at least their senior year in order to be eligible to apply.
Students who meet the admission deadline will be considered for scholarships based on submission of new high school transcripts or ACT/SAT scores if the information is updated on their WVU student record by the January 20, 2026. Test scores are automatically processed when sent to WVU. However, for high school GPA changes, students should follow the GPA Update Request instructions to submit a GPA update. High school GPA changes are not processed automatically.
Students eligible to apply will receive additional materials by mail for completion starting in early November. Twenty first-time freshmen are offered the scholarship annually.

Please be aware that incoming students majoring in online programs of study are not eligible for institutional scholarships. Students beginning in on-campus majors will lose their institutional scholarship eligibility if they switch to an online program of study at any point.
$15,000 per year for up to four undergraduate years or completion of a bachelor’s degree – whichever comes first.
